Our thigh lift in Utah is a surgical procedure removes sagging skin and unwanted fat deposits from the thighs. This procedure is performed especially after weight loss, as diet and exercise cannot resolve the issue of excess skin. This procedure results in a smoother contour and a shapelier appearance of the thighs.

What is a thigh lift? Is it right for me?

Both the outer and inner thighs can loosen and sag as a result of the effects of time and gravity. Significant fluctuations in weight or an inherited condition of poor skin tone can precipitate these changes. This loss of tone can cause the skin to sag or lose the smooth appearance of an earlier age especially in individuals who’ve lost significant weight.

Occasionally we will also see that the contour and appearance of the thighs is affected by both the loose tissues and excessive fat accumulations. If these fatty deposits do not respond to weight loss or exercise, liposuction may be beneficial. In situations where the skin tone is good, this may be all that is required to achieve an improved result. Our Salt Lake City thigh lift procedure is combined with liposuction to address any excess fat, or alone if the fat deposits are not troublesome.

Thigh lift recovery period

The first few days are usually marked by swelling, bruising and moderate discomfort. If we’ve performed liposuction, then you will likely have significant fluid drainage from the incisions. This is not a concern, but you should take care to keep the incision dry and change the dressings as often as necessary to keep the fluid off the skin. Some patients will use a shower curtain to cover their bed to keep it dry.

Walking as soon as possible is strongly recommended as tolerated. Separating the legs further apart than shoulder width is to be avoided for 6 weeks if we perform our inner thigh lift in Utah. Drinking plenty of water during the recovery period is also highly recommended to aid with the healing process.

Will drains be used?

Occasionally drains are used, and you will receive instructions on how to care for them. They are removed in the office and typically remain in place for 1-2 weeks. Compressive garments are usually applied for 2-4 weeks after surgery.

Risks of thigh lift surgery

Dr. Brzowski typically sees quite good results from thigh lifting. Nevertheless, there are risks involved with this procedure. Such risks include:

  • Infection
  • Bleeding
  • wound healing problems
  • persistent swelling
  • asymmetries can occur

Spreading of the labia is possible following an inner thigh lift if the scars heal unfavorably or the tension is excessive. Certain behaviors around the time of your surgery can influence your risks of problems such as smoking and failing to follow instructions regarding wound care and activities. Specifically, smokers are required to discontinue smoking a minimum of 3 weeks prior to surgery and not resume smoking until proper healing has been verified.
